1. Development Associate (Fundraising)
Average Commitment: 5 hours/week
Hourly wage (monthly flat rate of 20 hours a month): $20-30/hr, DOE
Work Location: Remote
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a Development Associate to identify funding opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals, and build relationships with philanthropic organizations and aligned donors. You’ll play a crucial role in growing the foundation’s capacity to support research, product development, and global collaborations in the public interest.
This part-time role is perfect for someone who believes in open knowledge, emerging tech for social impact, and the power of strategic storytelling to drive change.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and track relevant grants, foundations, and donor opportunities (public and private).
Draft and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
Collaborate with the team to gather data, stories, and outcomes for funding applications
Manage submission calendars and reporting timelines.
Help shape core fundraising language and materials (one-pagers, decks, mission statements).
Build and maintain a lightweight database of grant opportunities and contacts.
Occasionally assist with donor communications and small fundraising campaigns.
You’d be a good fit if you:
Have strong writing and research skills, with attention to tone and detail.
Have experience writing grants or fundraising materials (even as a volunteer or intern).
Are self-directed, organized, and enjoy synthesizing big ideas into clear language.
Bonus: experience with nonprofit fundraising strategies, storytelling for social impact, or science/tech communication.

2. Full Stack Developer
Average Commitment: 7 hours/week
Hourly wage (monthly flat rate of 20 hours a month): $30-40/hr, DOE
Work Location: Remote
Role Overview:
The Developer's responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following areas of work:
1. OPAL Digital Service Platform – Maintenance & Enhancement
Serve as the programming and technical lead for the OPAL digital service platform, including:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the platform to ensure reliability, performance, and usability
Develop and improve features across onboarding, authentication, reservations, shelter operations, dashboards, and administrative functions
Develop a customer support operations platform for OPAL
Manage database integrity, system configurations, and technical documentation
2. Companion Applications
Potential examples: Portal Medical Record Project, Environmental AI prediction tool, coffee and labor project, etc.
As authorized by PathCheck leadership, support the development of companion applications by, but not limited to:
Implementing product features and user interfaces
Integrating approved third-party services, APIs, and data providers
Developing authentication, consent management, access controls, and security features.
Implementing audit logging, monitoring, and reporting capabilities
UX/UI design
3. Architecture & Technical Strategy
Provide full-stack development and technical architecture support across PathCheck products
Design solutions that support scalability, integrations, analytics, automation, and future product expansion
